Samabayika Supermarket
Samabayika, established in 1990, is a government-run supermarket located in Kolkata, West Bengal. It offers a wide range of products, including groceries and medicines, aiming to provide quality goods at reasonable prices to the public. Over the years, Samabayika has expanded its presence, with outlets in various locations such as Salt Lake City and Behala.
In the 1970s, the Calcutta Wholesale Cooperative Consumer’s Society (CWCCS) played a significant role in the proliferation of Samabayika stores, reaching up to 229 outlets in the city. However, due to various challenges, the number of these stores has declined to around 45 in recent years. Efforts are ongoing to rejuvenate and modernize these outlets to better serve the community.
Additionally, Samabayika operates under the West Bengal Livestock Development Corporation Limited (WBLDC), offering a variety of livestock products and services.
